The Hamptons BookDavid Marcley, a chef, met Julie Goldstone, a singer, and eventually they fell in love, bought a fishermen's diner that served breakfast all night, and got married in Barbados. As Dave's Grill gained popularity, they started serving dinner instead of breakfast. Now the diner is freshly painted, and has new vinyl on the booths. A pretty patio overlooks the harbor for summer dining. Dave selects the fish right off the boats. Grilled fish is the specialty and it shouldn't be missed. The salmon fillet, for example, is served over a salad of warm beans, mango, jicama, and red onion; the flounder is baked in an onion/potato crust. Desserts are a specialty here, too. The most popular is Dave's Chocolate Bag -- chocolate shaped into a bag and filled with scoops of ice cream, raspberry sauce, and whipped cream, all floating in a pool of crame anglaise. The wine list is evolving.
