Description

Seasonal warmth fills kitchens with golden Pumpkin Bread, a comforting slice of autumn’s embrace. Fragrant spices and rich pumpkin create a delightful treat that connects memories and moments shared around the table.

Ingredients

Scale

Pumpkin Puree and Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup vegetable oil (or melted butter)
  • ¼ cup milk (any type)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 ¾ cups (219 grams) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (200 grams) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (100 grams) light brown sugar, packed

Spices and Leavening Agents:

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger

Instructions

  1. After baking, allow the pumpkin bread to cool completely on a wire rack to prevent moisture buildup.
  2. For short-term storage, transfer the cooled bread to an airtight container and keep at room temperature for 2-3 days.
  3. To extend freshness, place the bread in a sealed container or wrap tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to one week.
  4. For long-term preservation, carefully wrap the bread in plastic wrap, ensuring no air pockets remain.
  5. Place the wrapped bread inside a freezer-safe zip-top bag, removing as much air as possible before sealing.
  6. Label the freezer bag with the date and contents, then store in the freezer for a maximum of three months.
  7. When ready to enjoy, remove the bread from the freezer and let it thaw naturally at room temperature for several hours.
  8. For best taste and texture, consume the thawed pumpkin bread within 24 hours of defrosting.
  9. If desired, lightly toast individual slices or warm briefly in the microwave before serving to refresh the bread’s texture.

Notes

  • Keep bread moist by wrapping it loosely in plastic wrap or aluminum foil to prevent drying out during storage.
  • Slice bread before freezing for easier portioning and quicker thawing when you want a quick snack.
  • Add extra warmth and flavor by toasting a slice and spreading with cream cheese or butter for a delightful treat.
  • Customize the recipe by mixing in chocolate chips, nuts, or dried cranberries to create your own unique version of pumpkin bread.
