Many fishermen remember it as a greasy spoon, once called Pete's Viking Grill. Established in 1988, husband and wife team, David and Julie Marcley transformed the once fisherman's haunt into this cozy, waterfront bistro located by the fishing docks on Montauk Harbor. Renowned for its incredibly fresh seafood, Dave's Grill offers a varied menu, including meat, pasta and vegetarian selections. The signature dish is Dave's famous Cioppino (a medley of lobster, scallops, clams, shrimp, mussels and calamari poached in a thick, rich fish and tomato reduction). Then there is the decadent Lobster Roll, ½ lb. of pure, butter-poached lobster served on a toasted brioche. Dave's is also home to the famous Chocolate Bag (a "bag" of Belgian chocolate filled with scoops of Tahitian vanilla ice cream, fresh whipped cream raspberry sauce and créme anglaise).
Open from May through October, Dave's offers dinner only from 5:30 pm. There is a full bar and chat lounge; indoor/outdoor seating available. Reservations recommended. Spring and Fall schedule available by telephoning the restaurant. Same day, phone-only reservations.
